September 27, 2011

User Centric Director Rick Omanson and Associate Director Aga Bojko were invited to present in the UX Marathon, an annual webinar on Oct. 24-28 hosted by UIDesign Group.

Omanson will present an overview of performance modeling and describe in detail how to model task performance using CogTool. His presentation, titled “Using CogTool Performance Models to Evaluate Interface Usability,” is scheduled on Monday, October 24 at 9 AM CDT. Most recently, Omanson’s co-authored paper entitled Categorization Costs for Hierarchical Keyboard Commands was presented at the 2011 CHI Human Factors in Computing Systems Conference.

Bojko will discuss the types of summative studies for which eye tracking is most suitable, how to determine the appropriate sample size for a study, the multitude of eye tracking measures, and how to match these measures to the study objectives. Her presentation, titled “Quantitative Eye Tracking,” is scheduled on Tuesday, October 25 at 11 AM CDT. Currently, Aga is writing the first how-to book about eye tracking for UX professionals, Eye Tracking the User Experience: A Practical Guide, to be published by Rosenfeld Media in 2012.
